Powerfest Review: Sleeping With Sirens

In 2017, Powerfest made its glorious return. After a few years of inactivity the Amsterdam-based indoor festival was back with some of the biggest names in poppunk and post-hardcore. With headliners Pierce The Veil and Sleeping With Sirens, Powerfest 2017 was bound to be epic and nothing could have been more true.

The honour of closing Powerfest this year went to post-hardcore heavy hitters Sleeping With Sirens. They as well have already made three appearances in the Netherlands last year and haven’t released any new music in the meantime. Just like with State Champs however their return to the same room was not unwanted to say the least. The attendees knew the words to every song they sang and the band executed the tracks as tightly as ever. While the majority of the setlist consisted of tracks off of latest record ‘Madness’, old fan favourites such as ‘James Dean and Audrey Hepburn’ and ‘If You Can’t Hang’ were of course also performed. With the ending of their tremendous set also came the ending of this year’s Powerfest and we think we can speak for anyone who attended when we say we’re hoping on another edition next year.
