The 1975 Make A Statement With Their New Song

The 1975 just released the second single from their upcoming album ‘A Brief Inquiry Into Online Relationships’ and they did not hold back on their thoughts about the state of the world we live in.

In the modern world people have the power to make their voice heard and talk about issues with one another from across the globe, giving us an insight into the day to day injustices our fellow humans face or witness. This ability has allowed for folks to join together to try to bring about justice and do a lot of good, even if it does have the unfortunate side effect of exposing terrible things we’d rather not face.

The 1975 have faced the stories we share and the battles we’re fighting head on in their new song ‘Love It If We Made It’ in a fresh, modern way by mixing their silky smooth and catchy sound with powerful, blunt lyrics. We hear them pay respects to Lil Peep: ‘poetry is in the streets’ and call out the disgusting behaviour of Donald Trump by quoting him, saying ‘I moved on her like a bitch’. There’s even an eye-roll directed toward Kanye West and his attempts at profundity that just showed his ignorance and privilege.

It makes sense that in an album named ‘A Brief Inquiry Into Online Relationships’ life online is documented and displayed in the music and The 1975 have done this in an effective yet artful way. The song is worth listening to if not for the political statements, then for the catchy rhythm and atmosphere that immerses you into the sound completely.
