In a recent interview, Tyler Joseph revealed how 'Heathens' was written.
As the song was written for Suicide Squad, it was a unique experience for Twenty One Pilots. Previously, they wrote the songs for themselves and they had no one to tell them if it was 'good enough' to release. As this song was written for a movie, of course the management behind the movie had to give the go-ahead for the track. In this interview, Tyler Joseph briefly chats about this experience.
