Today's Track of the Day is "Fuqboi" by the pop-punk band Hey Violet! The band from Los Angeles, California, consist of Rena Lovelis, Miranda Miller, Nia Lovelis, and Casey Moreta.
If some of the members sound familiar, that's because some of the band used to be in a band called Cherri Bomb. As Cherri Bomb, they opened up for bands like Foo Fighters and Smashing Pumpkins, and even played Warped Tour in 2012. When their lead vocalist, Julia Pierce, left the group, they added guitarist Casey Moreta and signed to Hi Or Hey Records as Hey Violet.
Songs like "I Don't Love You Anymore" by Real Friends are some popular pop-punk anthems when it comes to getting your heart broken by someone who didn't deserve you in the first place, but how about a song like that sung by a girl? That's where Hey Violet comes in.
Thanks to Hey Violet women now have their own anthem to sing to when it comes to a guy breaking their heart. With some of the lyrics to "Fuqboi" being, “He’s a fuckboy / And they’re all the same / They're the stain on your heart's reputation," and "There's this cute guy down my street / I always wanted to meet / So I went creeping around on his socials / And all the selfies he takes / His head is tilted the same way / And his favorite hashtag is beastmode," they prove that they're not just any ordinary "cute" band just because most of the band consist of girls.
So what are you waiting for? Check out the song and jam out!
You can find their newest EP, Brand New Moves, available now.
