Earlier this week, In Hearts Wake have released a new track and this one is special in many ways. Carrying the name „Waterborne“, the song is written out of the water’s perspective remarking that humankind cannot live without it, which serves as a great reminder to become more aware of that instead of wasting or polluting the water sources we have.
This choice of a point of view is a rather interesting one and also supported musically, as the basic pace and atmosphere created by the instruments follow the water by the way it is described in the lyrics. Starting slow, still holding back when mentioned as rain in the beginning, we get a badass breakdown towards the end of the song when the lyrics talk about the waters rising as an unstoppable force.
Yet the song is not only connecting dots creatively, it is also linked to an initiative In Hearts Wake have started called We Are Waterborne. In it, they encourage their fans to join them and help clean polluted waterways in various cities of Australia. If everything goes well, there might be similar projects to this one in other countries in the future.
The initiative starts tomorrow, the same day as the band’s new album "Ark", including this track, will drop, so keep an eye out for that!
As for now, you can check out “Waterborne” below!
