Right now, as we speak (or well, write), fans around the world are waiting patiently for one of the most anticipated alternative albums this year: the sophomore record of Melanie Martinez.
A while back, the singer stated that she was planning to release a music video for every single track off her debut album “Crybaby” and announce more details on her upcoming record with the last one of those music videos. So now that we went through the emotional, both audibly and visually awesome ride that is the first 12 songs on “Crybaby”, there’s only one more left: the 13th and last track, “Mad Hatter” which will inevitably come with the title of her new album that is supposed to drop in the fall of this year.
Just like all of the previous ones, it’s probably safe to say that this video will be particularly interesting, as Martinez directs and stars in her music videos herself and does so in a style that is just as amazing, extraordinary and full of surprises as her music itself.
Wrapping up the concept and story of “Crybaby”, “Mad Hatter” tells the part of the story where the character Crybaby comes to terms with the fact that yes, she is full of flaws, imperfections and emotions and yes, some people might consider her crazy, but this is who she is and she wouldn’t trade it for the world, which is an attitude that all of us should try to adapt at least partially.
Because at the end of the day, we might be able to change some things about ourselves, but we will be stuck with ourselves for the rest of our lives, so while it is hard and takes a lot of time, why not try to embrace even our flaws, because without them, we all wouldn’t be our true and unique selves and that would be a pretty sad world to live in.
If you’d like to learn more about the things we already know about Melanie Martinez’ upcoming sophomore record, we’ve compiled a list of facts for you which you can check out HERE and if you’re just here for the music, feel free to give “Mad Hatter” a listen below!
