"Take me I'm alive / Never was a girl with a wicked mind / But everything looks better when the sun goes down." Those are the intro lyrics to today's Track of the Day. With every lyric sung by The Pretty Reckless' frontwoman Taylor Momsen, we could feel the power and strength. Nowadays, more and more women are taking that leap to be a frontwoman in the rock world, and we're loving it!
The Pretty Reckless recently made history when “Take Me Down” off of their latest album, Who You Selling For, made it to #1 on the Billboard’s Mainstream Rock Chart. With their music, they even beat The Pretenders’ record for the most number ones by a female-fronted rock band. When "Take Me Down" was on the top 30 charts, Taylor Momsen was the only female on the list at the time.
According to an interview Taylor did with MTV, she shared saying, “There was no real formula to the way that we wrote. It’s hard to define that, but ‘Make Me Wanna Die’ [is my favorite song] if I had to pick one. It was the first song written for the record, so it kind of defined the direction.”
